How do you prefer to watch foreign movies? By reading the captions in English? Or having someone talk over the movie in english? There are a few different ways movies can be translated to world wide viewers but, which way is the best for you? There is no easy answer and every person is different when it comes to how they consume media.
What are Subs and dubs?
Although they seem similar, subs and dubs are very different. When you watch a movie or show you can put subtitles, or subs, on the bottom of the screen in your preferred language. The movie will be in its original language but you would be able to read the captions in whichever language you want to pick. A dub is when you take the original movie and have someone speak over the movie in a different language.

Pros and Cons
Subs do seem to be the preferred way people watch movies or shows, but they still have some cons. Even though it is easy to read the captions, you tend to not pay attention to what happens on the screen because you are reading. It is sometimes hard to read and watch at the same time. With dubs you would be able to watch the screen without having to read, but the lips won’t match what the people are saying because it is dubbed.
